Supersweet Pastry; Sweetness for The Soul
Updated: Aug 9, 2021
The food hunt made us land at a new bakery situated in the suburb of Issacs. A bit out of the way, but we promise you that this bakery is a destination you don’t want to miss.
If you live in Canberra, this place must be on your next go-to list. We bet; you won’t regret.
What’s All the Hype About?
A couple runs the Supersweet bakery, and you definitely feel the warm and cozy vibes. They specialise in pastries and mille crepe cakes. Founder and pastry chef, Chris, vouches for their danishes and watermelon cake. Talking about watermelon cake than its definitely the star of the show. You can feel the enhanced taste of watermelons, strawberries, and rose. However, you only get to have this on weekends.
You know the hype is real when you see them using Kingswood coffee beans for serving coffee, and oh boy, it tastes so good and genuine. Lastly, let’s not forget to mention the presentation. Do you know what we were sold on? The fact that most of the pastries and bakery items were bite-sized, and they were very convenient to eat. That way, you get to try different varieties and explore more tastes.
What We Tried, And Loved?
When we entered, we knew the first thing we wanted to try was their danishes. The range in flavours was huge. The choice was difficult to make, but we somehow managed to order most of the flavours.
The freshest Danishes
Talking about the tiramisu danish, then it was crispy outside. From inside, it was soft and buttery. The topping on the tiramisu surely enhanced the taste, with the nice touch of coffee powder sprinkled. Same were the fruit danish and the mango danish that we tried. Both of them were filled with fruits, butter, and tasted delightful.
We were lucky to visit the place on the weekend as we got our hands on the very famous dessert of the bakery “watermelon cake”. It was definitely something unique, flavourful, and heavenly. The whole slice was gone within seconds and rightfully so.
From their mille crepe cakes we tested the matcha crepes. Honestly, we were surprised by the 40 layers of the crepes together; something we have not seen before. It was rich, and most importantly flavoured like authentic matcha. We ordered the matcha latte. But what really caught our eye and impressed us was the matcha soda that was something new for us.
Our Capital Food Adventures takes us to places we never thought we would ever be, and that would have been a great miss. Such a golden find was Supersweet Pastry. It has now become undoubtedly our favourite place for baked desserts.
Visit this place to give your taste buds a treat.
