Au Lac Canberra - You won't believe its Vegan!

Au Lac Canberra - You won't believe its Vegan!

If you're looking for a vegan restaurant that will blow your taste buds away, look no further than Au Lac. Located in Dickson, this famous vegan restaurant serves up a variety of dishes that are not only healthy, but also delicious and full of depth. Tony's parents have been running Au Lac for years told us, "Most people think vegan food is really boring, but we're trying to change the perception of that at Au Lac. When you come in here and you try the food, it's fresh and full of flavour." At Au Lac, they use tofu to mimic the texture of meat, but without any actual meat in the dishes. For first-time visitors, Tony recommends trying the laksa or the eggplant in clay pot. "It's spicy and fresh," Tony said. What We Tried at Au Lac? For entrees we tried the satay, which is grilled and smoky with an absolutely amazing sauce, and the Peking “duck”, which was very fresh and captured the flavours of duck so well. For us the real star of the show at Au Lac is the soy meat and tofu stir fry. They captured the textures and flavours in a way that was so convincing! Honestly if I gave that to somebody for a try and asked “Tell me which meat this is," I think they'd say it's smoked duck or smoked chicken. At close second was the Egg plant clay pot dish. Eggplant is great at absorbing flavours and this dish was a full-on flavour explosion. So if you're looking for a vegan restaurant that serves up delicious and visually stunning food, be sure to check out Au Lac. Information

So good, we went for seconds Our search for authentic ramen in Canberra had continued for some time now, until we discovered Ramen O. Located in Belconnen, they serve Kyushu style ramen. If you haven’t tried and tasted this type of ramen, then you are definitely missing out on some serious life-changing UMAMI flavours. Being a ramen lover, you would know that Kyushu style ramen is different from the other types. This style surely standouts from the other because of its richness, intense flavour, and thin ramen noodles. Do you know what makes this so flavoursome? The pork bone broth. Ramen O is there to fulfil your authentic ramen desires. What We Tried at Ramen O? We ordered the Yuzu Tonkotsu Ramen. This bowl is enough fulfilling for one person that you don’t need to order more stuff. The extensive use of pork bones makes it strong and gives it a milk texture. Talking about the noodles, then they were thin, long, and well-cooked. The ramen was topped with a delicious slice of Char shui Pork, half a steeped egg, and a slice of Yuzu that added depth to the taste, and also gave the ramen an amazing aroma. We also tasted Ramen wow, and it tastes delightful too. The bowl is filled with rich pork broth, delicious noodles, a slice of Char shui pork on the top, some vegetables and seasoned perfectly with the right balance of spices. Apart from this, we ordered veggie gyoza too – nice and crunchy. You get some variety to choose from, such as spicy ramen, super spicy ramen, and deluxe ramen. That means they cater to an extensive range of customers depending on the spice level. Is the Long Line Wait Worth It? Honestly, what really pumped us to visit this place was the extra-long line to get into the restaurant in the first place. A long line is often an indicator of good food right?! After having our first bite, we knew right there and then that the hype was real, and the wait was all worth it. Ramen O’s menu gives you enough items that you will always have another thing to try on your next trip. We recommend this place to the people of Canberra. There is no doubt in saying that this might be the most delicious and mouth-watering ramen we have even tasted in Canberra. The range in flavours was huge. The choice was difficult to make, but we somehow managed to order most of the flavours. It was definitely something unique, flavourful, and heavenly. The whole slice was gone within seconds and rightfully so. Matcha Range From their mille crepe cakes we tested the matcha crepes. Wukong Hot Pot - Home of the Monkey King

Wukong Hot Pot - Home of the Monkey King

Situated in Dickson, Wukong Hot pot is one of the first authentic Chinese Chong Qing hot pot places in Canberra. This fact alone makes this place so appealing and worth trying. As you all know, we are always on the go and trying out different things. Hence, this time we ended up at this exciting new place, and we were surprised by what it has to offer. Before we dig right into the menu and what we liked the most, we found one thing really attractive. And that was definitely the digital tablets as a replacement of card menus. It shows that everyone around including the restaurants and cafes industry is also stepping up their game with technological advancements. A Word by Sean, The Owner As we interviewed Sean, he revealed that he went to China to bring the authentic taste and the legit hot pot to Canberra. In an inclusive talk, he also mentioned that he studied in China for several months before bringing back the real flavour of hot pot. Upon asking his recommendation, he suggested us his top three food items from the menu. Black beef tripe was topping the list, followed by the 1-meter board of beef and lamb, and lastly the crispy pork. What Did We Order? We basically ended up ordering almost everything, because we were really excited about the opening of a hot pot place in our town. Starting with the hot pot soup, it came in a customised pot with three sections. Each section contained different soups. What we ordered comprised of Chong Qing style broth, traditional hot and spicy broth, and vegetable style broth. All of them tasted different from one another but equally flavoursome. We had our different sauces that enhanced the taste of every item that we dipped in the hot pot. The northern style and the southern style were the two sauces we had, and both were finger-licking. The main items that we dipped in the soups were wagyu beef, crispy pork, quail eggs, prawn meatballs, and fried tofu skin. Each and everything was appetizing and luscious. Speaking brief of crispy pork, you can enjoy these hot shots on their own or else with the broths. It depends on whether you prefer them crispy or soaked. A Little Challenge by Cindy Well, by the end of our tasting and eating session, we played a little game. We were surprised to see the variety that Wukong offers. For instance, we had duck giblets and duck intestines. The giblets had a rubbery mouthfeel if that’s something you prefer then make sure to add that in your order. In Nutshell Overall, it was a tasty and rich trip down to Wukong hot pot. Now we finally know where friends and family can have a great gathering because you know the food can be trusted up. We are looking forward to more hot pot places in Canberra. For now, we know which place to head to. Information FACEBOOK INSTAGRAM
